I’ve been waiting a long time…..
Today there was a Delivery Notice in our mailbox. At last, the misters for my fountains have arrived!! I will be able to paint the ones that I had stashed away for the time when I had the strength again to approach these projects. That time is now.
I love the swirling magic of it all.
They should be ready for my feature month in the Red Tree in October.

Transparence – the Beginning
This is a very condensed view of my years in Auroville, South India.
I had originally left the west coast of Canada to find my brother, who had gone 12 years before.
I've always worked with cloth, and was naturally drawn to the wild varieties of Indian fibres. Before long I had my own simple tropical style workshop, Atelier Transparence. I kept it small, choosing to work as an artist rather than turn into a factory. We worked making hangings/interior design, which morphed into clothing. We worked with theatre and dance, had cloth woven and dyed with natural dyes. Living in an International Community half way round the globe from the rest of my family there were marvellous opportunities to accept invitations to take my work to far flung cities “on the way”.
I have just this month brought some of those pieces to our own cooperative Gallery on Pender Island. I'm very pleased that they are being met with enthusiasm. My impulse to be working with fabric again is happily reinforced!

Foggy day on the Salish Sea
I found these wonderful little tea glasses – double walled – frosted inner bowl! They have a lovely effect when there is tea in them. Or wine, or juice, or water. I don’t have very many, and will keep some for myself!

and then……….
someone else thought it was a grand idea!
More little Orca bowls on their way to the Bay Area for Bill’s 80th birthday. He asked me to make one for each '”a pile” of his friends inscribed with their names. Oh yes, and one for himself too.
Oscar’s Bowl
This bowl is going away to Oscar, my friend Deborah’s grandson! The other side of the bowl has my own Orca Totem design to remind him of the West Coast. His Mom can use it to feed him, and then when he’s big enough, he can use it himself!
No fear that it will break. It’s very light and made of double walled stainless steel.

Shimmery blues for summer–
Almost impossible to photograph these new colours. Move the glass even a breath the iridescence is a joy each time. Shimmer turquoise and shimmer blue on goblets most comfortable in the hand.
